Have a look at this late-winter engagement session with magical sunlight, a beautiful couple, and the most adorable remote cabin rental in Alaska. The results? Phenomenal engagement photos and lasting memories for the future bride and groom! This session reminds me why I love being an Alaska engagement photographer.
ABOUT THE COUPLE
Meet Taylor and Pax, two cuties who told me they experienced love at first sight. Taylor made the first move to get this handsome man’s number, and the rest is history. They’ve been falling for each other more every day. This becomes especially true as their wedding in Montana approached. I was lucky enough to capture their warm connection during their engagement photos in Alaska. Every shutter click was filled with the energy of their love.
Engagement photoshoots often involve a bit of posing and kissing. However, these two needed little direction—they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. They were truly a photographer’s dream in a dreamy Alaskan location!

THE PERFECT LOCATION
This gorgeous rental is located near Ship Creek, a remote spot with Talkeetna as the nearest town. Endless wilderness surrounds it. Talkeetna is a fantastic spot for a low-key Alaskan staycation. Its vibrant and historic downtown has charm in every season, but especially during the quiet of late winter. Combining a remote cabin escape with a day trip to Talkeetna is the perfect way to celebrate a recent engagement. Additionally, it is a brilliant idea for an Alaska engagement session.
This cabin felt like it was worlds away from everything. The only hint of civilization was the distant howls of sled dogs. It doesn’t get much more authentically Alaskan than that.
THE COZY CABIN THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF
Inside the cabin, we popped some champagne and started exploring different backdrops for the shoot. Natural tones, pine wood, white walls, and a minimalist, almost boho-meets-cabin aesthetic were present. This space was the perfect stage for an intimate and cozy engagement photoshoot in Alaska.
The fireplace, big windows, and warm atmosphere made it easy to focus on Taylor and Pax. Their connection was the real showstopper. It was exactly what they wanted—snuggly, meaningful photos to announce and remember this exciting chapter in their lives.
INDOOR SESSION
This session felt like I was quietly documenting their weekend together. It included cozy couch moments and bed snuggles, along with spontaneous dancing in front of the fireplace. We even found a gorgeous light and shadow moment near the stairs. This added an editorial vibe to their otherwise candid and relaxed shoot.
Taylor and Pax’s comfort with each other made this session shine. One of my favorite parts? Sitting by the fireplace as golden sunlight poured through floor-to-ceiling windows—pure magic.

WHIMSICAL SUNLIGHT
Taylor wanted a snowy winter vibe for their engagement session, and even though we were nearing spring, Alaska gifted us one last snow-dusted weekend. As an Alaska engagement photographer, I always hope for this kind of rare magic. I love snow on the ground and golden hour light in the sky.
The season gave us just enough sunlight to illuminate the dreamy snowy forest. It avoided the mud and slush that often defines early spring. This session was the perfect balance. We had pillowy white landscapes and glowing spring warmth.
SNOWY WALKS
We started outside with kisses and coffee mugs on the cabin deck. Then we wandered into the woods. The thin birch and spruce trees let the golden light spill in. This illuminated the snowy ground perfectly for those classic engagement photos Alaska is known for.
Some of my favorite images were taken just as the sun hovered above a snowy hill behind Pax’s head—he leaned in for a kiss, and it was pure photo magic. The fun continued with piggyback rides and playful moments in a nearby meadow. To finish, they made snow angels and cozied up on the steps to show off Taylor’s stunning engagement ring.
