Two adorable people with a great story making my job easy with a vision that was flawlessly carried out. THE SET UP
I was working with Jared and he had already booked the photo session. This was intended to be a surprise proposal to Jaedyn. As we were figuring out the details and how to get her to know about the shoot, to dress accordingly, she began to get suspicious. But the plan was easily diverted. He proposed on a lovely, intimate date night before I met with them. This was now an engagement photo session! I love how much contact we had the whole time. I also love how things like this are easily rearranged for the best outcome. This is especially important when creating meaningful Alaska engagement photos like this. DREAM COME TRUE
It had always been Jaedyn’s dream to do an iconic Notebook photoshoot for her engagement, so things worked out perfectly here. She had already known and was able to add in some fun touches to make it personal to them. Adding a champagne toast and having flowers did give it that traditional engagement photoshoot feel. This is the vibe you want for any professional session. But all the fun styled moments in between were dreamy and spot on cinematic for their Notebook styled engagement shoot in Alaska. 90’s ROMANCE
First off, their life is a romance story. Just look at how much work Jared did for the perfect proposal. He followed up with every girl’s dream of a whimsical photoshoot styled exactly how they have always imagined! Her adorable bandana and their take on the clothes and props were perfect additions. These really sent it over the edge! I’ve actually photographed them a lot in different stages of their life. Also, I am so excited to get to shoot their wedding this summer in 2026! Jaedyn wanted her engagement announcements to be a Notebook inspired photoshoot since the dawn of time. The boat scene, whisking her off her feet, the grassy lake shore, all of it, and this pair did not disappoint in showing their affection. While also letting me stage them a bit too so that everything turned out just like the movie. These Notebook engagement photos in Alaska were everything she dreamed of. We got started with some simple posing but they jumped right to it, twirling around in the grass and dipping. Her shoeless simple white outfit was so adorable and his tan striped slacks and leather shoes were classic beachwear. When Jared picked her up I captured some of those picture-perfect nostalgic shots. CANOE WITH ME
Making dreams come true one little paddle boat at a time! This was such a classic moment to watch Jared paddle out and them kissing on the boat then Jaedyn with a little parasol. It was fun to shout at Jared to get the canoe in perfect position. This way the square back of the boat gave a really nice geometric effect for the images. The divergent element from these shots and the movie would be the massive Alaskan scenery on the other side of the lake. This made for a truly personalized, stunning version of the Notebook boat scene that Jaedyn always wanted—one of my favorite moments as their Alaska engagement photographer. PICNIC
Sticking to romance vibes, a vintage picnic basket to be added to the sultry shots of them kissing on the grass was pure iconic. And lastly a champagne celebration to congratulate the announcement of their upcoming nuptials. I am so excited to get to photograph these two even more! What is a styled shoot? I’m glad you asked. A styled shoot is typically a pre-planned photo shoot with a specific aesthetic, theme, or tells a story… usually the story of your love or family. Sometimes a styled shoot is described as “not the real event” but we make our own rules. This was actually Jaedyn and Jared’s engagement shoot. We chose to style it to the theme of the Notebook. I’ve done other shoots with gothic or punk themes, biker babe, fairytale forest, or retro roadtrip styles.
