Glam Chalet Winter Wedding at the Iconic Alyeska Resort

Weddings

When it comes to unforgettable Alaska wedding venues, Alyeska Resort in Girdwood sets the standard. Nestled in the Chugach Mountains, this luxury chalet-style resort combines natural beauty with alpine elegance. It is one of the most sought-after destinations for a winter wedding in Alaska. For Danielle and Tim, this iconic spot became the perfect stage for their moody, glam winter wedding. It included an aerial tram ride, fur coats, caviar, and an après-ski vibe that gave luxury and love a whole new meaning.

First Impressions: Glam Chalet Meets Moody Academia

I first met Danielle during her sister’s maternity shoot (who, by the way, is a total model babe). As the shoot wrapped, Danielle casually mentioned her upcoming wedding at Alyeska. Once she saw a bit more of my portfolio, she officially booked me as her Alyeska wedding photographer.

From the beginning, Danielle had a clear vision: Glam chalet meets dark academia, with rich textures, moody tones, and a luxurious winter atmosphere. Her corseted gown paired beautifully with the bridesmaids’ long black dresses. Meanwhile, Tim wore a sleek black suit that matched the modern gothic flair. Add the stone architecture of the resort, snow-covered peaks, and flickering lights from the Seven Glaciers Restaurant. This wedding was dripping with Alaskan winter magic.

Getting Ready in the 8th Floor Penthouse Suite

Danielle and Tim prepped for the big day in Alyeska Resort’s top-floor suites — think floor-to-ceiling windows, drinks, laughter, and yes… caviar. The girls sipped champagne and got glammed up in style, while the guys chilled and suited up in a newly renovated lounge space. The elegant suite setting offered the perfect mix of luxury and comfort. We captured everything from makeup moments to emotional gift exchanges before heading out.

Wedding Day Details That Deserve Their Own Spotlight

One of my favorite things about photographing high-end winter weddings like this one is capturing the little things: designer shoes, heirloom rings, handwritten vows, the floral palette, and custom cocktails. For Danielle and Tim, these details included luxe place settings, textured winter florals, and – no joke – a tin of caviar casually waiting in the bridal suite. If you’re planning a luxury Alaska wedding, don’t underestimate how powerful these tiny touches can be in telling your story.

Ceremony at the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows

Just steps from the main resort, Danielle and Tim chose the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows for their wedding ceremony. It’s a stunning little church with sweeping mountain views. As Danielle walked down the aisle to meet Tim, the room filled with quiet tears and joy. Their vows were heartfelt, their kiss sweet. The moment they signed the marriage certificate, it was official: Mr. and Mrs. Swanson.

Iconic Winter Photos at the Top of the Mountain

After the ceremony, we made a quick escape to the Alyeska Aerial Tram. Riding to the summit helped us catch that perfect golden hour glow. Danielle slipped into a fur coat. We stepped into a snowy dreamland with mountain views in every direction.

Up top, we photographed romantic portraits with sweeping views of the Turnagain Arm and Chugach Range. There were playful moments under the neon blue lights of the Seven Glaciers Restaurant. By the time we hopped on the private tram ride down (skiers on the way up, just the lovebirds on the way down), the couple finally had a moment alone. I was there to document every soft kiss and snowflake.

Reception Vibes: Dancing, Babies, and Bubble Energy

Back at the resort, the party began. Their banquet room was a warm contrast to the cool outdoor tones. The night included dinner, heartfelt speeches, and all the classic wedding traditions. There was cake cutting, first dances, and parent dances that had everyone teary-eyed. As the night rolled on, the energy got wild in the best way — kids dancing until they crashed, friends letting loose, and a packed dance floor that kept the night alive.

Why Alyeska Resort is Alaska’s Premier Winter Wedding Venue

From mountaintop portraits to gourmet dining and world-class accommodations, Alyeska Resort is more than just a venue — it’s an experience. The versatility of spaces, stunning natural backdrops, and unique alpine charm make it a top-tier location for Alaska destination weddings in any season. This is especially true in winter.

Danielle and Tim’s wedding was the ultimate showcase of what makes Alyeska a dream. The moody elegance, mountain adventure, and just enough après glam made it unforgettable.
