New Year’s Eve in chilly Downtown Anchorage, Alaska

Welcome to the most bad ass New Years Eve wedding in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. This Disco wedding was what all my wintery dreams were made of.

“From our first meeting with Chelsa, we knew she was the one! Her portfolio speaks for itself, but getting to know who she is as a person really solidified our choice in knowing she was the perfect fit for our wedding.

Chelsa has a style that is creative and feels high fashion — Not just anyone can make the Pioneer bar look like it belongs in a high end magazine. She not only understood and captured our wedding’s vibe (NYE fun disco glam party) but added to it! She has a keen eye for detail, resulting in photographs that are not only stunning but help tell our story.

What sets Chelsa apart is not just her technical skill but the way she was able to make the experience fun and enjoyable! Her personality created a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, allowing us to be ourselves in front of the camera. Having Chelsa at your wedding feels like being photographed by a friend, and her ability to connect with us, our families, and the surroundings translated to beautiful, intimate, and authentic images that truly show our personalities.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer with a fantastic presence, unique style, and ability to capture the essence of your special day, Chelsa is the one for you!! We highly recommend her and are grateful for the memories she’s given us to cherish forever. Thank you Chelsa! You are so talented!!

Edited to add — Chelsa also got us our images freakishly fast. I always heard from friends and family it takes months to get your images back — Chelsa literally had a sneak peek for us the day after our wedding. I’m not saying that happens every time for every event, but it happened with us, and it was super cool to get that bit of instant gratification. :)”

M & E

Mackenzie, my disco bride. From the moment I facetimed her and Eric for our consultation, I knew we were a perfect fit.

New years eve morning, I walked into the girls getting ready room at the Captain Cook Hotel, and Bobby McGee was playing on the speaker. I instantly felt at home. Everyone was so chill, the vibes were just right and the day unfolded authentically just as it should.

We did the first look right on Fifth Ave then meandered our way around taking photos headed to the Pioneer Bar for some shots of fireball to go with our bridal shots. Next we headed over to the Dena’ina center to capture some bridal party and family photos. The crisp Alaskan air was filled with anticipation as the sun began to set, casting a warm, pinkish hue over us out on the mezzanine. By 5 p.m. the sun was gone and the stars were coming out, it was time to get the party started. They said their “I do’s” and we headed to the dance floor.

Photographing this New Year’s Eve wedding was such a fun experience, and a reminder that love, like the turning of the calendar, has the power to renew and inspire us. As an Alaska-based photographer, I am honored to witness and immortalize the love stories of couples like this two baddies, who remind us that every ending can be the beginning of something extraordinary. Cheers to love, Anchorage, and the endless possibilities of each new year!

Big thank you to our team of amazing vendors who really made the dream work!
